New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has a brand new scandal on the horizon after it was revealed Saturday that she owes back taxes on a ‘failed business.’
Just when she thought things couldn’t get worse after her FEC violations — The New York Post reported that Ocasio-Cortez owes NY state $1,877.56 in unpaid corporate taxes for a completely and utterly failed business venture. The tax lien dates back to 2012 and remains outstanding.
The NY Post alerted Ocasio-Cortez’s office about the issue WEEKS AGO, to which they promised the back taxes would be paid as soon as possible.
Thursday, however, AOC’s aide Corbin Trent claimed that the congresswoman’s lawyers were “looking into the matter.”
He also went on to say, “I’m her congressional staffer, not her personal accountant.”
The post also reported that “The state slapped the company with a warrant on July 6, 2017, two months after Ocasio-Cortez announced her candidacy to run against Democratic incumbent Joe Crowley for the district that encompasses parts of Queens and The Bronx.” Which indicates that Cortez has been FULLY aware of these unpaid taxes for far too long.
Twitter users immediately saw through Ocasio-Cortez’s hypocrisy. Her failure to pay up back taxes flies directly in the face of her democratic socialist policies. AOC supports raising taxes on the rich — who aren’t paying their fair share LOL.
