(Opinion) Governor Gavin Newsom has been in charge of running California for over 5 years and in that time, they have seen more than 800,000 people leave the state. Democrats have governed the state for over a decade and have done nothing but run it into the ground. As examples, there are high taxes, out of control wildfires, poor schools, high crime and a justice system that does not punish criminals to the fullest extent of the law.

Arnold Schwarzenegger was the last Republican Governor but that did not matter much, because during his two terms the Democrat lead State Assembly and Senate handcuffed him. Now the Democrats want to push a bill that even Newsom can’t support. It’s called, Assembly bill 15.

“California Gov. Gavin Newsom will veto a bill that would block his state’s prison system from cooperating with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), his office told Fox News Digital.
Assembly Bill 15 argues that “when California’s jails and prisons voluntarily and unnecessarily transfer immigrant and refugee community members eligible for release from state or local custody to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for immigration detention and deportation purposes, they subject these community members to double punishment and further trauma.”
“The Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) shall not detain on the basis of a hold request, provide an immigration authority with release date information, or respond to a notification request, transfer to an immigration authority, or facilitate or assist with a transfer request any individual who is eligible for release,” reads some of the language of the bill.
However, Newsom’s office told Fox News Digital that the governor would veto the bill if it ever lands on his desk.”
California State Senator Melissa Melendez took to the X platform to explain how destructive the bill would be and said in her post,

Jonathan Hatami, who is a child abuse Prosecutor said,
“CA Assembly Bill 15 (AB15) – would prevent prison officials from notifying ICE when a murderer, rapist, child molester, child murderer, kidnapper, sex trafficking, violent gang member or other violent criminal is released from prison (not jail-prison) and is in this country illegally.
I don’t know any parent, normal or rational person or really anyone who wants violent criminals who aren’t even legally in this country back into our communities to reoffend and victimize again.
The authors and co-authors of this bill are the same people who supported Gascon. It’s beyond ridiculous. No matter what your political party, if you are an elected official, the safety of your communities is the most important. Period.
Since 2016, approximately 18,000 violent criminals were released from prison in CA and handed over to ICE. That would end under this bill. It’s reckless.
Make sure if you live in CA, you call your Assembly person to vote against this absolute nonsense.
There’s a big difference in my mind between coming to our great country for a better life vs coming to our great country to hurt and victimize Americans. What type of elected “leader” would want to help someone who came here illegally and violently hurt one of its citizens? That’s just sick.”
