President Obama began his World War Quest with accusations of Russian hacking, and election fraud. Now he’s moved up to sanctions on Russia. The US issuing sanctions is a key indicator of wartime on the horizon.
CNN:
According to statements from the White House and the Treasury Department, the government has sanctioned nine entities and individuals over their alleged interference in the election: the GRU and the FSB, which are two Russian intelligence services; four individual officers of the GRU; and three companies that provided material support to the GRU’s operations.
The alleged hacking offense has yet to be proven. This move serves only as a means to paint the president-elect into a corner in regards to Russian-American relations.
This strategy appears to have already failed.
Trump states the following:
“Great move on delay (by V. Putin) — I always knew he was very smart!”
“Although we have the right to retaliate,” Putin said, Russia would instead “plan our further steps to restore Russian-US relations based on the policies of the Trump administration.”
